The author chose to present some issues in relation to the discursive construction of « fatness » and recognizing « fat bodies » as epistemic subjects.

Because of the lack of translation these rich theories and practices are little known to French-speaking feminist communities. It approaches this interdisciplinary and intersectional field of research, which focuses on the fat experience by interweaving activist and academic knowledge to challenge weight-bias in Western societies. This article discusses the growing institutionalization of fat studies.
